Stephen "Steve" Rose

  Stephen Boyd Rose, son of Carroll and Wilma (White) Rose, was born August 2, 1947, in Stuart, Iowa. He grew up in Bayard and graduated from Bayard High School in 1965.

   For 14 years Steve was married to Lynda Byerly and they had two daughters. Steve had a life long career with the telephone industry as a central office technician, retiring in 2016. During retirement he spent several winters in Arizona.

   Throughout the years Steve served on the Bayard Fire Department. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed fishing, camping and boating with friends and family at Lake Panorama. He cherished the time spent with Linda Culbertson, his girlfriend of 30 years.

   On Monday, June 11, 2018, Steve died rather unexpectedly at Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. He was 70 years of age.

   Steve is survived by: two daughters: Stacy Wegman and husband Tim of Clive, and their children: Jay, Nick, Brett and Joey; and Amy Coenen and husband Heath, and their children: Kennedy and Kade; two brothers: Mark Rose of Perry and Kirk Rose of Bayard; an Aunt Lois Raner of Grimes; his girlfriend Linda Culbertson of Bayard; Linda’s children: Lisa Hester and husband Joel, and their children Cameron, Cheyenne and Harley; Ryan Culbertson and his children: Kaitlyn, Alexa, Lydia and Aubrey; Kevin Culbertson and wife Brandi, and their children: Quentin, Kolby and Mason; Kyla Sporrer and husband Josh, and their children: Jordan, Jersey and Kadyn; and by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Scott Rose.
