Steven Lynn Olsen

January 26, 1957 — February 7, 2016

Steven Lynn, son of Dick and Elinor (Mortensen) Olsen, was born January 26, 1957 in Audubon, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed at Elk Horn Lutheran Church. In high school Steve was the starting pitcher for the high school baseball team and as a young adult he continued his love for baseball as he played for the Elk Horn town team. Steve graduated from Elk Horn-Kimballton High School in 1975.  He worked for his father at Elk Horn Brand Eggs during and after his high school days. He became a USDA Food Inspector in Lenox in 1991. From there he and his family moved to Glidden and then Pella.

He was the father of two children, Jeremy and Karlie.  Steve was a devoted father, even though he was gone working during the week he always made it home on Friday nights for his children’s activities. Steve met Nora in April of 2013 and moved to Maxwell. They enjoyed sitting around the fire pit with friends and family relaxing in the country side surroundings. He had a love for driving trucks and was currently working at Huber Hauling in Bondurant, but his true passion was spending time with his family on the lake in the boat.

Steve died at his home in Maxwell, Iowa on Sunday, February 7, 2016 at the age of 59 years and 12 days. Preceding Steve in death are his parents.

He is survived by his children Jeremy L. Olsen of Maxwell, IA, and Karlie (Shane) Pote of Woodward, IA; life companion Nora Cable of Maxwell, IA, and her children Brad Carre of Des Moines, IA, Bronson Carre of Tucson, AZ, Brandon Carre of Des Moines, IA, and Marylee Carre of Woodward, IA; brothers Pat Olsen of Omaha, NE, and Darin (Ellen) Olsen of Urbandale, IA; niece Katrina Olsen (Josh Battisti) of Janesville, WI; other relatives and friends
