Vivian Rasmussen

   Vivian Marie, daughter of William E. and Ollie Jane (Wagner) Dawson, was born September 23, 1927, at Bagley in Guthrie County, Iowa. She graduated from Bagley High School and attended Morningside College for two years.    On August 21, 1948, Vivian was united in marriage with Robert P. Rasmussen at Bagley. Three children were born to this union. Vivian and Robert lived their whole married life in Manilla where Vivian owned and operated the Manilla Bowling Alley from 1959 to 1974. Robert died October 5, 1997.    Vivian was a long-time member of the Presbyterian Church and is currently a member of the United Church in Manilla. Throughout the years, Vivian was a member of the Crawford County Cancer Board, the Womens Club and the Election Board. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, entertaining, playing bridge, gardening, reading and bowling.    Vivian suffered from Parkinsons disease and in January of 2006, she became a resident of the Manilla Manor in Manilla, Iowa, and died there Saturday, April 15, 2006. She was 78 years, 6 months and 23 days of age.    Besides her parents and husband, Vivian was preceded in death by a daughter Constance Marie Rasmussen, a brother Roger Dawson, a sister Wanda Allen and her step-mother Grace Dawson.    She is survived by two children: Michael Rasmussen and wife Julie of Manilla and Robin and husband Dan Koskamp of Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren: Kami and Nicholas Rasmussen; and Jordan, Bethany and Hannah Koskamp; brothers Wayne Dawson and Eldon Dawson and wife Betty, all of Bagley; sisters: Glenda Venteicher and husband Ivan of Bagley; Rosemary Trucks of Jefferson; Phyllis Weaver and husband William of Oak Harbor, Washington; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
