Wanda Marie Tuel

October 12, 1931 — November 12, 2018

Wanda Marie, daughter of Clarence and Mabel (Tuel) Hupp, was born October 12, 1931, at home north of Coon Rapids, Iowa.  She attended country school and then Coon Rapids High School, graduating in 1948.  She worked as a bookkeeper at Armor meatpacking in Carroll before her marriage.

In 1952 Wanda was united in marriage with James Bart Jackson. Wanda spent the next 25 years as a military wife, traveling the world.  Two children were born to this union – Steven Dean and Terri Lee.

Wanda was united in marriage with the love of her life, Valentino E. Tuel, on March 10, 1979, at the First Christian Church in Coon Rapids.  She and Val spent 30 years enjoying life together. They loved to go on gambling trips and spend time with their grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Throughout her life Wanda worked as a waitress and cherished the  interaction with her customers.  She was fortunate to spend the last several years of her working life with her best friend and boss, Darlene Rudolph, at Rudy’s Corner Café in Coon Rapids.  They laughed and enjoyed their companionship and “coffee” regulars.

Wanda courageously battled cancer.  She died peacefully at home in Coon Rapids with her family by her side on Monday, November 12, 2018.  Wanda was 87 years and 1 month of age.
