Wilma Margaret, daughter of Harry Karl and Wilhelmina (Meggers) Gruhn, was born July 21, 1926 in Carroll County, Iowa. She graduated from Manning High School in 1943. After graduation, she met requirements for teaching and taught in countryschools near Manning and Aspinwall. Wilma also worked as the deputy recorder for Carroll County and as a secretary for Carroll Credit Bureau before her marriage.

On May 18, 1957, Wilma was united in marriage with Melvin (Tom) Wolfe at Peace Lutheran Church in McCook, NE. They made their home in Manning, where in addition to being a full-time homemaker, Wilma was the bookkeeper for her husbands welding shop. After Tom retired, Wilma worked as a cleaning person at the United States post office in Manning. After Tom's death, she was a volunteer for RSVP and the Manning Children's Immunization Clinic. She also was an assistant site manager at the Senior Center and worked later as a clerk at Duckwalls store.

Wilma was a faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church and participated in Altar Guild and Bible Study. She was also an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary and Manning Hospital Auxiliary. Over the years, Wilma enjoyed going camping with her family, doing word find puzzles and playing bingo. She will be remembered for her quick wit and sense of humor.

Due to failing health, Wilma became a resident of the Manning Plaza Nursing Home in the weeks prior to her death. She died at Manning Regional Healthcare Center on Tuesday, May 9, 2006, at the age of 79 years, 9 months and 18 days.

Preceding her in death are her parents and husband.

Wilma is survived by her daughter Ginger and husband Jim Thorn of Coon Rapids; grandsons Jeremy Thorn of Glidden and Danny Thorn of Coon Rapids; sisters Jeanette and husband Norm Meyer of Fort Collins, CO, and Marlyn and husband Chuck Fielweber of Manning; brother Delton Gruhn and wife Janet of Manning; a niece, nephews, other relatives and friends.
