Elaine Kay Yager

Elaine Kay Yager was born on September 28, 1937, to Roy and Clarice (Flowers) Golay on a farm near Huxley, Iowa. She attended Huxley elementary school until third grade when the family moved to a farm south of Coon Rapids. She was one of thirteen children. She enjoyed playing high school basketball. Kay graduated from Coon Rapids High School with the class of 1956.

Kay married Jerry Yager on December 23, 1956, at the church across from the cemetery in Coon Rapids. They celebrated 65 years of marriage together.

Kay was a hard worker and spent a lot of summers detasseling corn and walking beans. She gave 150% effort on everything she did. Kay worked for Garst and Thomas as a seed lab technician.

Kay passed away on June 18, 2021, at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll, Iowa, at the age 83 years, eight months, and 21 days.

Kay was preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Ernest (Naomi), William, Paul (Jean), Charles (Mildred), Robert (Lorraine) and Richard (Blanche) Golay; and sisters: Nancy (Everett) Johnson, Charlotte "Edna" (Clifford) Doubleday, Ruth (George) Floden and Marie (Hank) Robinette. She is survived by her husband, Jerry Yager of Coon Rapids; two sons, Jerry Lee (Terri) Yager of Audubon, Iowa and Jeff Yager of Coon Rapids; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; siblings, Jim (Carmen) Golay of California and Marilyn Carpenter of Coon Rapids; sister-in-law, Marge Golay of Carroll, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.

The family will direct memorials.

A private graveside service will be held at Orange Township Cemetery in Coon Rapids, Iowa.
