Lois Arlene, daughter of Earl Stuart and Mabel Anna (Crouch) Weems, was born October 25, 1927, on the Wooster farm in Shelby County, Iowa. She attended country school through the eighth grade and went to Irwin High School for two years and then graduated from Manning High School with a Normal Training degree in 1945.

She also did seasonal corn sorting at Garst and Thomas Seed Corn in Coon Rapids. In 2004, she moved into Manning.

Lois was a member of the United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school and was active with the United Methodist Women. She served on the board at M.C.S. and was active with the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary, Aspinwall Ladies Auxiliary, and volunteered with RSVP, the Hospital Snack Bar and Manning Hausbarn Heritage Park. Throughout the years, Lois enjoyed going to polka festivals, gardening, raising chickens, playing cards, ceramics and visiting with her family and friends. Above all, Lois was known to be very supportive of her extended family and passionate about her children and grandchildren.

In 2017, Lois became a resident at Manning Senior Living in Manning where she passed away on Thursday, November 11, 2021. She was 94 years and 17 days of age.
