Janet Faye Jensen

Janet Faye Jensen was born June 3, 1947 to the late Glenn and Lorraine (Petersen) Larsen in Exira, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed at Bethany Lutheran Church in Kimballton. She graduated from Elk Horn High School with the Class of 1965.

On June 26, 1965, Janet was united in marriage with Donald Jensen at Bethany Lutheran Church. To this union, three children were born: Amy, Jerod and Corey. They made their home in Elk Horn, Iowa.

Janet worked at Salem Lutheran Home in Elk Horn until her retirement on March 13, 2015. During her employment there she worked as a Certified Nurse's Aide and the supervisor of maintenance, laundry and housekeeping. She was a lifetime member of Bethany Lutheran Church and helped with meals in her church ladies' group for many years.

In earlier years, Janet and Don loved attending dances. Janet enjoyed going to garage sales, sewing, reading books, cooking, canning and playing cards. She was an avid gardener and she had many flowers around the house, especially roses. She also enjoyed going camping with her family and watching her grandchildren's activities. Janet had a strong faith in her Lord and she cherished her family more than anything.

Janet passed away peacefully on Friday, February 18, 2022 at her home in Elk Horn, attaining the age of seventy-four years, eight months, and fifteen days. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Don Jensen in 2021; and brother, Craig Larsen.

Left to cherish her memories are her children: Amy and her husband David Hoffmann of Walnut, Jerod Jensen and his wife Jennifer of Earlham, and Corey Jensen and his wife Tanya of Waukee; grandchildren: Hillary and her husband James Shughart, Travis Hoffmann, Ellie Hoffmann, Alexis Jensen, Skyler Jensen, Maizie Jensen, and Cora Jensen; great-grandchildren: Hunter Shughart and Jalynn Shughart; brothers: Darwin Larsen and his wife Betty of Harlan, Lynn Larsen and his wife Doreen of Kimballton, Randall Larsen of Walnut, Dale Larsen and his wife Tonia of Marne, Neal Larsen and his wife Brenda of Kimballton, and Todd Larsen and his wife Marcy of Kimballton; sister-in-law, Verlene Childs of Elk Horn; other relatives and friends.
